Guest speaker Josh Clauser (right) from the UConn Health Center visited the junior health classes this past week to demonstrate the effects of poor eating habits and drug habits on the organs of the body. He brought in a healthy, and non-healthy, heart and lungs, as well as a trachea, stomach, pancreas, liver and brain. Josh demonstrated that what you put in your body affects your organs in several ways. That’s junior Alex Marquis in the photo above. Alex had calculated that his meal had 16 teaspoons of fat in it – and after Alex was handed a cup with 16 teaspoons of fat, Josh showed him what happens when that cakes up inside the arteries!
