Brian Donovan, senior captain at MHS, made a huge accomplishment in Trumbull, CT this past weekend.  He took home the title in his weight class of 182 pounds at the Class LL tournament. it has been 17 years since a MHS wrestler won the LL tournament.

Donovan faced four people over the weekend to win the title and earn the chance to make a run in the State Open.  He did so well in the LL that he is seeded 4th out of a 26-man bracket.  This achievement allows him to get a much-deserved bye in the first round of the State Open.

Donovan had to say this about his feat of winning the LL. He said, “It really felt awesome, all my 4 years of training for wrestling has paid off and the result was shown.  Going to an off-season camp this summer really paid off to get me ready for this year.  I am ready to go into States and bring back another title for our school.”

Donovan, James Hicks, Ryan Jurewicz, Chris Simmons, and Noel Cardona are competing in the State Open this Friday and Saturday in New Haven.  Come show your support and remember to congratulate these wrestlers.
